23:22Delicious Flavorful Snacking!:
Gooog. Burp. Belch. Ahhh. After a delicious dinner here at the FoF, nothing caps a bloated stomach like a tasty and easy to make dessert! Something quick to set up and relatively inexpensive would be ideal. Tonight, dinner consisted of hefty, bean-burdened burritos and cans of Pepsi. As any good waiter could tell you, the perfect dessert to accompany this meal is something we like to call "Clever Treat".
Clever Treat originated in the frosty nothern climes, where most deserts are designed such that they taste best when chilled. Ice cream and popsicles rule the day, but do become monotonous. One day, after eating a five dollar burrito from Taco Del Mar, a network engineer named Edward C. decided that ice cream alone wouldn't quite cut the mustard, or the cheese, in this case. He combined chocolate chip cookies with ice cream in a bowl, creating the gustatory experience now known as Clever Treat.
Edward was not alone in this endeavor. His roommate and research partner, Andrew D., had provided the cookies. Andrew had eaten the same meal for dinner, and had drunk quite a few caffeinated beverages by this time of night. He witnessed the creation of the first and second Clever Treat, and followed up with the invention of "Overly Clever Treat", which was Clever Treat with a can of Pepsi poured over it.
So wherein lies the cleverness? Clever Treat did not take its name from the unprecedented concept of ice cream combined with cookies, as counter-intuitive as that seems. No, there lies an even MORE canny secret at its heart. Prior to the introduction of ice cream into the container, Edward placed the cookies in a microwave oven and heated them for a few seconds, rendering the cookie substrate soft, and melting the chocolate chips. How important is this step to the essence of the magic? The surprised and utterly delighted look on the face of the person trying Clever Treat for the first time says it all. "Mmmmm. Chewy."
